Richard Vaughan
Sad passing of a valued member

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Richard Vaughan, a cherished coach, mentor, and friend to the Fareham Firefly’s family and the wider netball community

Richard was more than just a netball coach — he was an inspiration, a fierce believer in potential, and a tireless advocate for the sport. His passion, dedication, transformed teams and touched countless lives on and off the court.

Richard knew every single girl in the club by name.
He helped some of the girls when they lost parents themselves, never once shouted at the girls on or off court, he coached with compassion and positivity and cared more about their mental health than the score. He never turned a girl away whatever their ability he made sure they were involved and found them a place on a team.

His legacy lives on in every player he coached, every life he uplifted, and every moment he championed excellence, sportsmanship, and heart.

Our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with his family, loved ones, and the entire  Firefly’s Netball Club during this difficult time.
