Meon Netballers support Race for Life

Members from all four teams of Meon Netball Club joined together for the recent Cancer Research Race for Life event in Southsea, raising over £1,000 through online donations and sponsorship in the process.  22 players from the popular Portsmouth club took part, all of them running the 5k route, with defender Caroline Brown and Georgina Prew the first players across the finish line. The Meon players were all recognisable in their distinctive purple kits with bright pink accessories, with shooter Karla Beilby dressing as a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle for the occasion!  Head Coach Debbie Laycock said: “It was a great day for all concerned and we were thrilled to raise money for a great cause. Sadly, Meon has been directly affected by cancer in the past and many of our runners this year have been touched by cancer in one way or another, we were all committed to raise money for the charity. It’s a really important cause and we have been delighted to back it.”  There is still time to add your support to Meon’s fundraising drive. Donations can still be made at http://www.raceforlifesponsorme.org/meonnetballclub . For more information on Meon Netball Club please visit www.meonnetballclub.co.uk
